| Picking up his cars that somehow end up EVERYWHERE! |
So... now that I made myself sound so horrible and lazy, I'll tell you how I plan on changing that! In an effort to get our mornings started right, I created a Tic-Tac-Toe "Chore/ Responsibility" Chart for Tyler ; ) While he is completing his chores, I do mine. It's a win-win! Then I feel somewhat accomplished when I sit down at the computer!
I made a 3x3 chart and in each square is something that Tyler usually does everyday anyways... The point is to get something done in the mornings so I don't feel we have wasted part of our morning waiting for me to wake up! In order for Tyler to watch a morning show, he needs to complete 3 tasks in a row-- Tic-Tac- Toe! Tasks that Tyler can choose from are: complete some schoolwork, vacuum, make bed, take a shower, empty dishwasher, organize his bookshelf, pick up cars/ trains, put away any clothes on the floor, and my favorite, Mom's Pick!
The concept is only a couple days old, but Tyler looks forward to crossing off three chores! Perhaps the new will wear off, but it's working... so I'm sticking with it!

I love this idea! What a great way to make chores a bit more exciting :)

ReplyDeleteOh, I just love this! I'm totally going to do something very similar for my daughter! I've just recently been brainstorming different chore chart ideas for her--she's certainly old enough to clean her own room! ;) Thanks for sharing this at Teach Me Tuesday!! I'm pinning it too!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I can't wait to try it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope it is as *fun* for your kiddo(s) as it is for mine!
DeleteHaha...I can totally relate! If I don't have my coffee first, it is probably best if you don't tal to me.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! It looks like fun for the kids but also gets things accomplished!
I'm glad I am not the only one! My poor kids are just so happy in the morning.. and then there is me! Lol!
DeleteThis is great! My little guy LOVES tic tac toe! This is a wonderful idea! Would you consider sharing this over at my link party?

What a great idea! I sit too long in the mornings because I dread facing the dinner dishes too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking this up to Kid's Co-op!
I'm glad I am not the only one :)
DeleteThis is a great idea! I need to get chores going for my kiddo. We were doing great for awhile and then I slacked off on holding him responsible for his chores. I may try your tic-tac-toe chart.
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks in, he is still interested! Although, I may have to switch a few squares around... he has his favorites ; ) I hope it works for you and your kiddo!
DeleteThis looks great! What a fun and creative way to motivate a child! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYes, kids love "games" don't they?! Who knew cleaning could be fun?! : )
DeleteLove the idea. think i might try that with my little one :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a really smart idea. I may need to try something like this with my toddler. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! My little one isn't old enough yet, but maybe I'll do it for myself, so I can motivate myself to exercise, do the laundry and clean the dishes before plopping down in front of the tv!
ReplyDeleteToo funny... Yes, notice how all this started was because *I* lack motivation in the mornings ; )
DeleteThis is GENIUS to make chores a game. I really like how you make the TV show a reward. I really need to reign in my little ones' excessive tv watching. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing with the Kids Co-Op this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by! Yes! It has been great so far... two weeks in and he knows exactly what to do in the mornings ; ) And he enjoys picking three things without getting overwhelmed!
DeleteI absolutely love this idea! There are so many fun ways you can use it. I'll definitely be using it at some time.:)

That is such a cute idea! I will have to try it with my kids when they get bigger.
ReplyDeleteJust found this on Pinterest. What a great idea. I'm going to be creating one as well and instilling a little healthy competition between my girls on who can get three in a row first. Plus this way all their chores will be getting done! Thanks for helping me be a sneaky mom. :D
