Pink Yink Ink Drink

In preparation for Dr. Seuss week I have raided our library for any and everything Dr. Seuss!  I've started a Dr. Seuss pin board and have checked out posts in blog land.  There are just so many great ideas-- why I am bothering looking for more is beyond me!  I guess I just want to make myself go crazy!

One book that I picked up from the library is the "Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook."  It has quite a collection of different foods to make to go along with pretty much every Seuss book available; it is a cool resource.  I planned on making a Pink Yink Ink Drink next week to go along with "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," but let the cat out of the bag too early-- and since I told Tyler we were going to "drink ink" the other night, that is all he's wanted to do!  So, we made it a week early! I have a few more fun food ideas planned for Dr. Seuss week from this book, but my lips are sealed (Dr. Seuss's birthday is March 2nd).  If I say anything, I might spill the beans to Tyler.  Which means he'll want make whatever it is now, and then I won't have any ideas for next week!  Stay tuned!  But I say, check right now to see if your library has this book!

I think I've mentioned the fact that sometimes I am not good at reading directions before I start something, and that is what happened here... We both got a little excited for our Pink Yink Ink Drink, so it doesn't look exactly as it should... but we said, "Cheers" and drank it anyways!

Ready to drink some ink?  Here's what you'll need:
1/2 cup blackberries (we used frozen, but fresh would blend better)
1/2 cup strawberries
1 cup milk
1 tsp. honey + more for drizzle (we like honey!)

We blended it all together, so it was thick like a smoothie-- then I blended another 1/2 cup of blackberries with milk for the "ink" at the bottom of our glass.  What you are supposed to do, is blend the blackberries first.  Pour that into your glass.  Then blend strawberries, milk, and honey and pour that mixture carefully on top.  Either way, you get a Pink Yink Ink Drink!  Enjoy!

I was trying to get him to wink while drinking a Pink Yink Ink Drink and this is what I got!  It is a bit tricky to wink and drink Pink Ink at the same time!

Are you doing anything special for Dr. Seuss's birthday?
