My Special Place on the Map

This week we (kinda) "rowed" a Before Five in a Row book titled, "If Jesus Came to My House" by Joan Thomas.  We talked about Jesus' love for us and how to treat others (tie-in with Valentine's Day), and shadows.  Since the book was about a what little boy would do if Jesus came to his house, I thought it would be a neat tie in to find our special place on the map... where in this gigantic world is our house?!  Where are we?  To prep us for this activity, I read "Me on the Map" by Joan Sweeney.  I hope you enjoy!

I am glad we did this project; it has been pinned for quite some time!  Tyler and I both thought it was neat to see where we are in relation to our city, state, country, continent, and the world!    I believe the original idea came from Finally in First.  In my search for map printables, Counting Coconuts also blogged about their own version.

Finding map templates took me forever, so here are links to the maps I used!  Hopefully you can use them, too!

  4. Very cute! I just love this project. Imagine how big this world seems for our little ones. I hope my daughter gained some perspective when we did this. Will do it with my little guy when he is a bit older. Thanks for stopping by my blog, Kristina!
