I pushed aside all the leaves we had picked up on our nature walk/ ride (I pushed Abby in the stroller and Tyler rode his bike), and decided to use my gazillion "puffy stickers" that I still have from my scrapbook days and spell sight words Tyler has learned.
Tyler has never done a crayon rubbing activity before, so it was kind of challenging for him because he kept rubbing too hard; thus, the words didn't show up as clearly. Neverthless, it was a fun activity and we'll do this again! Great for sight words, word families, name recognition, etc.
1. Fill the paper with stickers, spelling sight words.
2. Let the coloring begin! Don't color too hard!
3. Ta-da! Have your child read the sight words as he/she colors them!

what a fun idea - I can see what you mean about not rubbing to hard though. :)
ReplyDeleteHow creative! I have a reluctant reader so am always looking for activities to get him to enjoy reading. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am starting a Linky Party if you want to link up at http://livinglifeintentionally.blogspot.com/2011/10/first-ever-linky-party.html
@LivingLifeIntentionally-- I've linked up. Thanks for stopping by and letting me link up! I've actually passed along your link on my blog when we 'rowed' "How to Make An Apple Pie and See the World." We used your geography game. For some reason I couldn't post a comment on your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks =-) So glad you liked the game. It was a huge hit in our home. Sorry the posting didn't work. We are getting a LOT of traffic right now so I guess there are bound to be gliches =-)

visiting from LLI Linky Party - what a fun idea.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great activity, sometimes not reading the instructions allows us to add our own ideas to the activity and being more creative.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea!
ReplyDeleteLove how your "oops" turned into such a fun idea for learning sight words!
ReplyDeleteI know! So glad I could turn it into something else... sometimes "oopsies" aren't so bad!
